Butler students are on alert after a female student was almost robbed. The attempted robbery happened around 2 p.m. Monday. Police said the victim was walking home from class carrying her laptop when the suspect jumped out of his car and tried to take it from her. But she didn't give up easily. Police said the victim fought him off, so he drove away. Butler police said violent crimes are very rare on campus. What's more disturbing is the incident occurred just a block away from Butler police headquarters, which is located at the intersection of 44th and Sunset Avenue. The school emailed students a crime alert to notify them of the attempted robbery. "My first thought was 'Oh my gosh, one of my roommates has just been held up'," says Emily Shrock, who lives near the robbery attempt.
