03/26/2009 01:31 AMUniversity of Michigan police have released a brief surveillance video they hope will lead to “a person of interest” and close an arson case. The video shows a man walking through a door that should have been locked at the West Quadrangle residence hall March 26. A small fire was intentionally set in the hallway shortly after 1:30 a.m. but quickly was extinguished by a sprinkler system. It’s unclear what, if any, link the unidentified male has to the blaze because police did not provide specifics. U-M spokesperson Diane Brown said only that the fire appeared to be neither a prank nor an accident and that police believe the man in the video may have asked a passing student to let him into the locked building, Brown said. |
