Robbery - 3XX COLLEGE AVENUE, CLEMSON, SC, SC - 03/25/2009

03/25/2009

Clemson Police Chief Jimmy Dixon said Wednesday afternoon that a lone gunman entered the Wachovia Bank on College Avenue earlier in the morning and ordered everyone to the floor before gathering an unknown amount of money and fleeing the premises. The suspect was said to be brandishing an unknown type of handgun. No injuries were reported. Dixon described the suspect as a white male, approximately 5 feet, 10 inches to six feet tall, medium build, wearing a black ball cap with a mask or bandana covering his face up to his eyes and wearing a blue/gray work type jacket. He was reported to have left the scene driving a gold colored Ford Taurus, possibly with a Georgia license plate. Initial police bulletins indicated that the car was last seen on Highway 93, headed toward Seneca. Those same reports said that a dye pack in the bank bag that was taken did explode. According to police, the department received a 911 call at approximately 10:40 a.m. regarding the robbery. Police learned that, after ordering everyone on the floor, the individual began to gather an unknown amount of money and placed it into a bag prior to his departure.
