10/03/2008 03:00 AMGeorgetown University was informed today by the Metropolitan Police Department that at approximately 3 a.m. on Friday, October 3, a Georgetown University student was attacked in the 1100 block of 34th Street in what the Metropolitan Police Department has described as an anti-gay hate crime. The student and a friend were approached by two men who allegedly harassed them for apparently being gay before attacking the student with a broken bottle. The student was treated and released at Georgetown University Hospital. Student Affairs administrators, including the Director of our LGBTQ Resource Center, have reached out to the student to offer him support and resources. Two suspects were arrested shortly after the attack and remain in custody on charges of aggravated assault. |
